Looking Back at 2018. And Moving Forward Into 2019

  • News

2018 has been quite a year for everyone at Curves. Goals have been met and exceeded. Women have transformed their bodies up and down the country and we’re fitter and stronger than ever before.

But before we leap into 2019, it’s so important to acknowledge your achievements and the progress you’ve made in the past year. Looking back helps to refine your focus and sets you on the path for even greater success. Every Curvette will have a series of little victories that they might not have acknowledged to themselves, and one of the great benefits of analysing your previous goals is you could find you did far more than you’re giving yourself credit for. So get ready for a little psychological boost, and start the review process of your real fitness milestones in 2018.

Making Your Past Part of Your Future.

You find lifestyle and philosophical advice everywhere. And much of it talks about ‘never thinking about what happened in the past.’ It’s a great sentiment to adopt, but from a fitness perspective, there’s also an advantage to looking back and evaluating exactly where you’ve come from. With that in mind, we’ve created a little three-step guide to help you process your 2018. So get ready for a little psychological boost, and start the review process of your real fitness milestones over the past year.

  1. Look back at your initial goals for 2018.

Did you set the bar too high or did you underestimate how much you would achieve? Looking back at your initial goals is a great way of helping you to acknowledge the year gone past, it gets you in the mindset of where you were, what your original aims were and it also starts the process of acknowledging where you are now.

  1. Remember what you achieved – even the little things!

It’s easy to focus on the negatives and bring yourself down by remembering the sessions you missed. Flip this on its head and really focus on every session you went to and how amazing you felt afterwards. Those are the ones that count!

  1. Use your achievements to set a base to create your new goals for 2019.

Now that you know how 2018 has panned out – and now that you’re focusing on the positives – it’s time to write down where you’re going to go in 2019. Keep them in a safe place, on your phone or even display them prominently! This not only provides a reminder of your aims throughout the year, but also when it comes to recapping 2019, you know exactly how many goals you’ve smashed.

Championing Major Initiatives in 2018

If we’re practising what we preach, it’s good for us to look back on 2018 too. Throughout the year, Curves were always on the lookout for ways to share our fitness experience, bring communities closer together and raise awareness of health and well-being issues.

We celebrated and helped support the European Week of Fitness and we continued to raise the profile of Breast Cancer Awareness Month by educating our Curvettes to look out for the early signs of the disease – and encouraging them to openly discuss breast cancer with their friends and extended social circle.

Curves also tried to encourage everyone to eat healthily and provide you with inspiration for nutritious recipes and alternatives to sweet treats that fit in with the Curves lifestyle! With that in mind, World Diabetes Day was a reminder of the importance of how exercise and a balanced diet can reduce the risk of developing Type 2 diabetes. It reinforces the fact that all the training you put in not only creates lean muscle, raises your metabolism, burns more fat and tones your body, it can also help reduce your risk of developing Type 2 diabetes.

Just 30 Minutes Can Start a Transformation

The cornerstone of so many our collective achievements is the Curves 30 minute workout. Specifically designed to meet the health and fitness needs of women, our bespoke exercise plans and machines mean you won’t get the same experience anywhere else. By giving you the ability to track your progress and see where you’re improving, we make sure our Curvettes are always moving forward and that every session is pushing you towards your next goal. When you consider that each workout burns anywhere between 300 and 500 calories, it’s no wonder you’re soon on the path to seeing real progress. And this is combined with our dedicated trainers and coaches, so you get the most out of every single workout and we grow stronger together!

2019 is Going to Get Even Better

We wish we could share every single one of the life-affirming stories we hear every day, but we simply don’t have the room to tell them all here! But we want our Curvettes to know how much you inspire us with your dedication, motivation and hard work you put in all year round. You should be so proud of your accomplishments this year!

So now that you’ve analysed 2018, you should have a much clearer idea of where you’ve made great progress, and where you can still reap the benefits of real change. One of the greatest things about Curves is we never stop striving to help you improve. And it’s the combination of your hard work and our dedicated program and staff that has made your 2018 such a memorable year. We can’t wait to join you on your next fitness journey in 2019.
