Easter doesn’t mean eggs. It means time!

  • Health

Ok we admit it. If you ask most people what Easter means they will indeed say eggs. The other thing that people associate with Easter? Ok, we walked into that one. Rabbits. Yes, that’s also true.

But the one thing Easter also gives you is the potential of a couple of extra days off work. Which in turn means the temptation to eat chocolate eggs – or more importantly – the option of more time to look after yourself, start a healthy new habit or a greater opportunity to get down to your Curves gym!

When downtime can equal more time to indulge.

With more time to spend with your family and loved ones, there could be the temptation to indulge in all the vast quantities of chocolate that seem to be absolutely everywhere. Of course, we’re not suggesting that you don’t have any. It’s just a case of following the old saying of ‘everything in moderation.’ But if you find temptation difficult to say no to, we can help.

Don’t give in to temptation.

Here are three easy strategies you can use to stave off temptation:

  • Limit Access: Whenever possible, keep the foods you crave out of the house. Granted, this is very difficult during periods like Easter, but even by buying less Easter eggs, it goes a long way to reducing your cravings. If you don’t have them, you can’t eat them.
  • Use the 15-Minute Rule: Don’t give in to your craving for 15 minutes. If it’s still there after 15 minutes, try waiting another 15 minutes. The craving will pass.
  • Have a drink of water: Sometimes you can confuse hunger cravings with thirst, so a quick drink of water rehydrates you and helps those cravings to pass. If you want to make things more interesting, here are some ideas to help you get hydrated.
  • Prepare healthier snacks in advance: If you’re going to snack, you can do it the healthy way! Have a look at our healthier Easter recipes to get you inspired.
  • Stop and Reflect: Ask yourself what you’re about to do and why? Is eating this right now really going to serve some purpose and make you feel better? Or will you regret it later?

More time to focus on you.

So now you’re equipped with some ways to avoid giving in at the first sign of temptation, it’s time to focus on what else you can do with your extra time off over the Easter vacation. Of course, it’s great to be active with your family, so make sure you get out for a brisk walk and spend some quality time outdoors.

Naturally, the number one thing we recommend is to get all the girls together and head down to your local Curves gym for a strength workout. In fact, it’s the ideal time to introduce family and friends to a personalised fitness programme at Curves.
