9 Tips to Achieve your Wellness Goals

So you started your fitness and wellness journey, you are on task, and you are achieving your goals. But what happens those days when motivation is low, and temptation is knocking on our door? Willpower can be tricky to sustain, but no fear Curves is here!

The general rule is not to indulge our impulses. Impulses often lead us to fall down the rabbit hole by overeating, skipping workouts, and inevitably making us feel frustrated. Frustration and wellness do not go hand in hand. With that in mind, let's examine a few simple tips to help you during those difficult days.

Set Short-term Goals

Fail to plan and plan to fail! Set yourself a short-term goal to keep you accountable. Knowing which way we have to go and what we aim to achieve often helps us to see the 'big picture.'

You can also give yourself weekly goals. Think outside the box and complement your workouts with small 'acts of fitness'. For example, take the stairs instead of the lift; all your efforts will add up, and you will see results in no time.

Meal Journal

Keep track of what and how often you eat. Keeping a healthy and balanced diet is essential for your wellbeing. It is crucial to make sure you are getting sufficient nutrients. Consult with your doctor to make sure you are consuming the right amount of foods to give your body the best chance. Remember, it is not only about losing weight but also about being healthy and achieving your goals in a healthy and balanced pace. Keeping a meal journal will help you see an overview of your eating habits. It doesn't have to be anything complicated, a simple list of meals per day can help you meal prep ahead and keep track of what you consume.

Plan your Weekly Shopping

To lose weight, you have to eat better, not eat less. That is easier said than done, right? Meal planning becomes easier when you shop based on the meals you intend to prepare during the week. Make a plan, write it all down and head over to the supermarket with an overview of what you need to buy for the week. This will allow you to keep more control and will also help you to budget. As a golden rule, avoid shopping on an empty stomach, as this often results on overindulging and buying extra snacks here and there that in the end do more harm than good.

Create a Training Routine

We are creatures of habit. Creating a routine will help you structure your time more effectively and be more consistent in your workouts. It will also give you that extra bit of motivation on days you are not feeling like working out.

Be Realistic about your Training Schedule

The important thing is not to overdo it, be realistic about your training program. If you don't currently have an exercise plan, don't immediately force yourself to train five days a week. Instead, make sure you choose a full-body workout that you can follow. Can you allocate 30 minutes for an activity once a week? How about three days a week? Start there. Try your new routine for a week and then add more days as you get into it.

Be Consistent

If you train first in the morning, be sure to stick to that routine until the end of the year. Consistency gets results. Choose a time when you know you can commit for at least six to eight weeks.

Identify your Weaknesses

Self-awareness can help you make better choices when it comes to your diet and training routine. Do you tend to skip workouts when you're stressed? Find ways to stay organized, so that you have no excuse to miss your workout. Do you tend to overeat on weekends? Stock up on healthy foods and prepare your whole weekend meals in advance, so that you can keep ahead of the game.

Workout with a Friend

Make workouts even more fun by bringing a friend with you! Not only you can support and keep each other motivated by you will also have a blast!
